Introduction to Between Pages🌸
Let’s read today’s story: Forest Reverie📖
Welcome to Between Pages
Back in school, I used to love writing fiction stories. I loved writing my own versions, and now I have decided to pursue it again as a side hobby.
Thank you for stepping into this quiet corner for small stories where I write about glimpses of everyday life that ask to be read slowly. Nothing here rushes; everything lingers just a moment longer than usual.
Twice a month, I’ll send you two small fiction pieces- tiny worlds that unfold in a few paragraphs, holding their own measure of wonder, melancholy, or mercy.
I’m glad you’re here, thank you!💛

Dear Gentle Reader, let’s read today’s story: Forest Reverie📖
The forest waited like a secret I had been told once and forgotten. I stepped over the carpet of fallen leaves, each one crackling underfoot like a tiny applause. Sunlight shifted through the canopy, spilling in golden ribbons that made the dust in the air look like drifting starlight.
Every tree seemed to lean just slightly toward me, as if curious, or perhaps welcoming. Their trunks were thick and gnarled, the bark textured like old parchment. I traced my fingers along one, feeling the ridges and knots, and imagined all the seasons it had witnessed-the snows, the storms, the soft rain that left the moss like emerald velvet.
Birdsong punctuated the quiet. A woodpecker tapped in the distance, methodical, almost ceremonial. Somewhere unseen, a squirrel scuttled, its tiny paws brushing against the undergrowth. The smell of damp earth rose to meet me, mingling with the faint sweetness of wildflowers I had yet to discover.
I wandered deeper, following the patches of sunlight that seemed almost deliberate, as if guiding me along some hidden path. In these beams, dust motes danced slowly, each one catching the light for a moment before drifting away, and I wondered if this was what magic felt like in its softest form.
A stream appeared where the light pooled most brightly. Its water was clear, cool, and alive. I knelt and let my fingers touch the surface, sending ripples across the mirror-like reflection of the treetops. Sunlight fractured into a hundred tiny rainbows across the gentle waves.
I found a fallen log to sit on and breathed in deeply. The forest was quiet but not empty; it held its life delicately, without demanding attention, yet entirely absorbing it once you noticed. Here, time has slowed down. The worries of home, the endless to-do lists, even the ticking of clocks; none of it mattered. There was only sunlight, moss, leaves, and the slow, steady pulse of the earth beneath me.
And for a long while, I didn’t move. I just listened. I just watched. I just let the sunbeam on my shoulder be a small benediction, and I felt as though I had discovered a world that existed both outside and inside myself, a world I could carry home without ever leaving it.
If you made it this far, thank you!
